SAVANNAH - Margaret Bristow, age 94, died peacefully Monday, October 4, 2010, at Hospice House Savannah.
She was born May 10, 1916 in Leicester, England. Margaret moved to Ohio following her marriage to James Deem Bristow, a sergeant in the 82nd Airborne. After the death of her husband, she moved with her beloved son, Deem, to San Diego, California. Following the death of her son, Margaret made her home in Savannah with her daughter and son-in-law, Rosalind and Jack Brady.
Margaret graduated from London Teachers' College and spent her working career as an elementary school teacher in England, Indiana, and Ohio.
In Savannah she was a member of the British Wives Club where she made many friends and renewed her ties with her British heritage. Margaret was a voracious reader and enjoyed her books up until the time of her death. Other favorite activities included going to the theatre, writing, and going to brunch with her granddaughter Emily.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Rosalind and Jack Brady of Savannah, Georgia; grandchildren Emily Glick of Savannah; Elizabeth Acosta and husband Salvadore of St. Clairsville, Ohio; and Jack Glick and wife Heather of Gordonsville, Virginia; and step-granddaughter, Beth Brady of Rome, Georgia; and great-grandchildren, Olivia Rose and Liam Henry Glick. Also surviving Margaret is her sister Mary Grose of Northhamptonshire, England.
A private memorial service for family members and a Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Bristow was my first grade teacher at McKinley Grade School in Warsaw, IN In 1958. I loved her above any teacher I had before or since. She was a gifted teacher and a loving influence on her students. I think about her even now with great affection. My condolences to the family of this gifted woman.
